Snow Causes Traffic And Sporting Chaos In UK

"Temperatures plunged as low as -7.8C in Carterhouse, in the Scottish Borders, while parts of Oxfordshire recorded -7.6C, Newcastle -4.3C, London -3.8C and Cardiff -3.2C.

The Met Office issued severe weather warnings for widespread icy roads and heavy snow across the North East, Yorkshire and Humber, East Midlands, the east and southwest England as well as parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Forecasters have warned of more snowfall, with the unusual weather being caused by a high pressure over Greenland and low pressure in the Baltics, forcing cold winds from the northeast across Europe."
