'By running thousands of model runs they demonstrate that human induced climate change did have a significant influence on the occurrence of the destructive floods in the UK in year 2000.'
ED: Best summed up in the comments...
"We are not at more risk of flooding, developers have simply built all over the known flood plains. If there is a 'New' risk is that older properties are being flooded because Medieval flood levels were reached - in some areas. We did not have an even distribution of rainfall across the country. Even when Tewkesbury was flooded that year we had hosepipe bans. Either adapt flood risk developments or abandon them, but do not blame GW. Despite computer models the real weather is completely unpredictable !".
