"DARWIN is "on track" to break another weather record - heading for the coldest month on record.
Weather bureau senior forecaster Angeline Prasad said that the mercury had dropped below 20C every day in June. "There has been 32 consecutive days below 20C," she said. "It is unusual." She said the record for consecutive days below 20C in Darwin was 53, set in 1965. "June is on track to being the coldest month ever recorded," Ms Prasad said. She said the previous coldest month on record was July in 1965, which experienced an average maximum temperature of 28.7C and a minimum of 15.9C. But she said that this month Darwin had recorded an average maximum temperature of 28.5C and a minimum of 15.8C."
