"Climate Commissioner Tim Flannery predicted global warming would destroy Perth:
As temperatures around the world warmed by 2 to 7 per cent, Sydney could glimpse its future by looking at the devastating impact that global warming had already had on Perth, which he said was likely to become a “ghost metropolis”....
“I think there is a fair chance Perth will be the 21st century’s first ghost metropolis,” Dr Flannery said. “It’s whole primary production is in dire straits and the eastern states are only 30 years behind.”
In fact:
The Perth metropolitan area which received 7mm overnight has had one of the wettest starts to November on record.
During spring this year, the city has recorded 182.8 mm of rain-well above the average springtime rainfall of 154.9mm.
The yearly tally is also high-so far this year 765.4mm has fallen on the city compared to this time last year when only 472.8 mm had been recorded.
