“He said, ‘I want to protect the legacy of the president’ — not protect
the overall welfare of the American people, but the legacy of the
president,” Whitfield said. “He’s very aggressive, and he believes in
pushing the envelope — if you’ve got the power, utilize it. That’s
probably one of the reasons there’s a strong sentiment that this
president is going way too far, way too fast and threatening the
constitutional separation of powers.”
