“Gee, this is some crazy weather we’ve been having.”
I’m old enough to remember some pretty darn extreme weather, like Hurricane Camille, a monster Cat 5 storm that devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1969. There was the Super Tornado Outbreak of April, 1974: a complex of 148 twisters that spun across hundreds of mile of the Midwest, killing 148, injuring 5,300, and wiping the town of Xenia, OH off the map. And lest we forget the record cold winter of 1977-78, when natural gas supplies ran low.
Many of our impressions of current extreme weather conditions have to do with the fact that 1) they’re fresh in our memories; 2) we have better communications and 3) higher population densities than in times past.
Complaining about extreme weather is part of the human condition. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane with The New York Times, all the way back to 1888: "

The cruelest impact of all has been on the German people, who have seen skyrocketing energy costs. According to some, the rising cost of Germany’s energy policy actually threatens its industrial base. Once again the bad idea at the root of the burgeoning problem is the feed-in tariff. “Ballooning costs of subsidising feed-in tariffs under Germany’s EEG have increased to more than 120 billion euros between 2000 and the end of 2013,” says World Review. “Germany’s electricity is 40 per cent more costly for private consumers and 20 per cent more expensive for industrial users than the EU average.”

He said: “You would have to ask the environment secretary who took that decision and that was a decision for him.
“However, I want to make it clear that if there is a Conservative Government in place we will remove all subsidy for on-shore wind and local people should have a greater say.
“Frankly I think we have got enough on-shore wind and we have enough to be going on with, almost 10 per cent of our electricity needs, and I think we should give local people a say if they want to block these sorts of projects.
“The only way to stop more on-shore wind is to vote Conservative there is no other party with this policy. We are saying very clearly we would remove the subsidy and give local people the power to say yes or no.
“This would end the growth of on-shore wind and if that’s what you care about you must vote Conservative.”

Now to the global warming conference. The reader should understand Yours Truly is a certified expert in these areas, a genuine climate scientist, with a specialty in the goodness and usefulness of models, the very kinds of models which predict our doom.
The models are wrong. And have been for decades.
How do I know this? Here’s a sentence from an open letter skeptics presented to the PAS (to hand to Pope Francis) at its conference (I am a signer of this letter):
Now you’d think these happy deductions would be welcome news to our political and spiritual betters. But they aren’t, because why? Because if there is no problem, there is no problem to solve. And if there is no problem to solve, there is no need to seek political power to solve the nonexistent problem."

The average temperature anomaly (before government data tampering) is the coldest on record, at nearly six degrees below normal. There is no trend over the past century. The percentage of nights below 0F (-18C) has obliterated the old record. There is no long term trend. The ratio of record lows to record highs is the highest on record, with only 1940 coming close.

Sounding indistinguishable from a Greenpeace campaigner, he declared that an absence of political will – rather than technological know-how – is holding back climate change action. He insisted that “humanity needs to reduce its emissions to zero” before the end of the century. Yes, he really said zero. We’re dealing with an extremist, here.
Worst of all, however, is van Ypersele’s towering self-regard. Somehow, this physicist imagines he is invested with moral authority – that it’s his job to scold the rest of us. Our civilization, our economic system, our political leaders are all wrong. We suffer from a “mindset problem.” Changes in “human behaviour” are required. The world needs to be re-designed according to his specifications.

No Underlying Global Temperature Increase For 20 Years

After taking out the effect of ENSO and eruptions, it is apparent that temperatures have been flat since the early 1990’s; indeed they have arguably been falling since.
This is significant. We are often told that the 17-year pause, with which we are all familiar, is solely dependent on cherry picking the big El Nino year of 1998 as a starting point.
What Santer’s study shows is that there has been no underlying upward trend in global temperatures for more than 20 years."

Last 2 years running, The White House blamed extreme cold for the faltering economy

President Obama’s economic advisors have just blamed the faltering performance of the US economy this year on cold winter weather – just like they did last year. ........Perhaps if President Obama spent less time worrying about “global warming”, and focussed his attention on mobilising federal resources, to help people and businesses in blizzard affected areas, the American economy would stay more on track during severe winters."
