"Carbon (Dioxide) trading is now the fastest growing commodities market on earth.....And here’s the great thing about it. Unlike traditional commodities markets, which will eventually involve delivery to someone in physical form, the carbon (dioxide) market is based on lack of delivery of an invisible substance to no-one. Since the market revolves around creating carbon (dioxide) credits, or finding carbon (dioxide) reduction projects whose benefits can then be sold to those with a surplus of emissions, it is entirely intangible." (Telegraph)

This blog has been tracking the 'Global Warming Scam' for over five years now. There are a very large number of articles being published in blogs and more in the MSM who are waking up to the fact the public refuse to be conned any more and are objecting to the 'green madness' of governments and the artificially high price of energy. This blog will now be concentrating on the major stories as we move to the pragmatic view of 'not if, but when' and how the situation is managed back to reality. To quote Professor Lindzen, "a lot of people are going to look pretty silly"

UN Wants Another $5 Trillion PER YEAR

E M Smith
Looks like the first thing that House Speaker Boehner’s replacement can do is stop having the US Government sign stupid crap like this at the UN. I’ve bolded the ‘hook’ to Global Warming. I’ve also bolded places where some other issues caught my eye.

UN summit to approve 15-year blueprint to eradicate extreme poverty and combat climate change

Note the “Sustainable Development” line straight out of Agenda 21 and the push for UN control of your life and property.    ..........
The only really good news for me out of this is that there simply isn’t $5 Trillion / year to be had. The EU is on the brink of collapse with only Germany and a couple of other northern states doing well. UK is marginal. Australia is hitting the skids as China slows down purchase of iron ore, coal, etc. USA (as mentioned) is $19 Trillion in the hole and sinking fast into the abyss of poverty. China is still growing, but down from 12% / yr to more like 6% (and 3 or 4% of that might be fictional…).
Things are so bad globally that the collective Central Banks of the world are far far closer to zero interest rates than anything sane in a failed attempt to use monetary policy inflation to fix fiscal policy failures. Layering on an even greater fiscal policy failure of $5 Trillion / year will just make the “busted flush” come sooner. "

Asia’s coal power climate joke

WUWT
The net outcome of this charade, in my opinion, is Western politicians are committing to skyrocketing energy prices and unworkable renewables schemes, inanely celebrating that everyone is onboard with their lunacy, while at the same time, China and Japan are busy helping their Asian neighbours make coal power even cheaper."

Allen Brooks points out something important on this myth about fracking causing quakes

JunkScience
Something the anti-frackers conveniently ignore is that fracking has been used extensively since 1947 with no major disasters. Something else they deliberately forget is the underground nuclear tests, ( a bit more powerful than fracking) that were conducted for 35 years, 835 detonations that left the proving ground looking like an overturned egg carton. But as extreme as they were, never caused a quake or any other natural disaster."

Economic growth is the key to saving the planet

Telegraph
For the past 50 years the environmental movement has been in thrall to a simple, powerful and utterly wrong idea: that the best way to save the planet is to curtail human activity, whether in the form of breeding, building, burning or business. Anybody who suggests a different strategy – that economic activity is not just compatible with environmental benefits, but vital to creating and improving them – has been howled down. But that is changing, and a new idea is gaining ground, under the term “Ecomodernism”. The key idea behind Ecomodernism is that the more technology human beings adopt, the more they can decouple from dependence on the natural environment and live lives that are prosperous but green.  ......Something remarkable is happening to the human race. Today’s seven billion people have both more food and more nature reserves than the five billion of 30 years ago. We in developed countries are using less land, less fertiliser and less water to produce more food. We are using less iron and less wood to build more buildings. We are using less oil and less gas to achieve each increment of economic growth. We are using fewer trees for paper and copper for wires, to communicate with. The Green Blob said non-renewable resources, like oil, copper and phosphorus, were going to run out, whereas in fact they grew more abundant and cheaper. It said hunger was going to get worse, whereas in fact it has vastly improved, except in countries like North Korea...... The reason poor countries have the worst environmental problems is that they have not yet made these transitions. They are still relying on renewable, natural resources such as wood and bushmeat to support their lifestyles. They are still coupled to the natural environment."

It's an inconvenient truth, but the global warming zealots are to blame for the deadly diesel fiasco

Daily Mail
Twenty years ago, diesel cars constituted a tiny minority. But following the signing of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997, most Western countries, including Britain, were legally obliged to reduce carbon dioxide emissions — alleged by some to cause climate change — by 8 per cent over the following 15 years. Diesel cars produce slightly less — but only slightly — carbon dioxide than petrol ones. In 2001 the Labour government introduced a new tax regime whereby cars were taxed according to how much carbon dioxide they produce, a development that enormously favoured diesel over petrol. (Duty at the pump has been the same for petrol and diesel since 2000.)   .......
I am neither a climate-change zealot nor what is invidiously termed a ‘denier’. But the fact that there has been no recorded increase in global temperature over the past 17 years — a period during which carbon emissions have soared because of the rapid economic growth of countries such as China and India — suggests to me that we should treat the more hysterical claims of the Green lobby with caution. But this is not an area of rational debate. If it were, politicians would not have given in to the bullying of the extremists who persuaded them to put the theoretical effects of climate change before the actual and proven damaging effects of pumping out nitrogen oxide and dioxide, and carcinogenic particulates."

MIT Climate Scientist: Global Warming Believers a ‘Cult’

Brietbart

During an appearance on this writer’s radio show Monday, MIT Professor emeritus Richard Lindzen discussed the religious nature of the movement.
“As with any cult, once the mythology of the cult begins falling apart, instead of saying, oh, we were wrong, they get more and more fanatical. I think that’s what’s happening here. Think about it,” he said. “You’ve led an unpleasant life, you haven’t led a very virtuous life, but now you’re told, you get absolution if you watch your carbon footprint. It’s salvation!”

Updated list of 66 excuses for the 18-26 year 'pause' in global warming

The Hockey Schtick
An updated list of at least 29 32 36 38 39 41 51 52 63 64 65 66 excuses for the 18-26 year statistically significant 'pause' in global warming, including recent scientific papers, media quotes, blogs, and related debunkings:   "

Where Is The Cooling?

Real Science
In 1974, scientists reported a large drop in global temperature since the 1940’s. In 1961, there was unanimous consensus that Earth was getting colder. NCAR reported this sharp cooling in 1974.But this drop in temperature no longer appears in NASA graphs. NASA accomplished this by successively tampering with data to make the decline disappear. NASA temperature graphs are propaganda, not science. They are completely fraudulent. "

The Pause is driving down the long-term warming trend

WUWT
The long and model-unpredicted Great Pause of 18 years 8 months in global mean lower-troposphere temperature as recorded in the RSS satellite monthly dataset is inexorably driving down the longer-run warming rate, when the IPCC’s predictions would have led us to expect an acceleration. .....
In the run-up to the Paris world government conference, the climate Communists are making determined efforts to pretend that the Pause does not exist, or that the rate of warming since 1990 is exactly as the IPCC had predicted. Both pretenses are false. The UAH and RSS satellite data both show the Pause, though the terrestrial tamperature datasets have all been altered in the past year with the effect of concealing it.
Furthermore, the warming rate is now embarrassingly far below prediction. It is worth demonstrating this fact with the IPCC’s own graphs:  "

Phony Biofuels Firm Makes Millions Off Green Tax Credit

Daily Caller
Employees of a phony biofuel company dumped hazardous waste at multiple sites around the Houston, Texas, area and made $20 million by faking renewable fuels before going to prison, according to a federal watchdog.   "

Arctic Has Gained Hundreds Of Miles Of Ice The Last Three Years

Real Science
Red shows the September 2012 minimum extent. Green shows the current extent, which is likely the minimum for 2015. The Arctic has gained hundreds of miles of ice over the past three years, much of which is thick, multi-year ice.
Nobel Prize winning climate experts and journalists tell us that the Arctic is ice-free, because they are propagandists pushing an agenda, not actual scientists or journalists."

National Geographic’s Junk Science: How long will it take for sea level rise to reach midway up the Statue of Liberty?

WUWT
Have you seen the cover of the September 2013 National Geographic Magazine? Cover story: Rising Seas. Image: The statue of Liberty with water up to about Liberty’s waist — more than 200 feet above sea level.
http://press.nationalgeographic.com/2013/08/15/national-geographic-magazine-september-2013/
I wondered if they told readers how long that will take to get to that level, like I did in a previous photo portraying New York underwater here:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/11/28/freaking-out-about-nyc-sea-level-rise-is-easy-to-do-when-you-dont-pay-attention-to-history/
According to the Nat Geo article “Rising Seas”, it turns out that they didn’t tell their readers about how long it would take to reach the level depicted on the cover, so I’m going to do the calculation for you. First, specs on the Statue of Liberty. I found this image with measurements:  "
