Climategate
"Carbon (Dioxide) trading is now the fastest growing commodities market on earth.....And here’s the great thing about it. Unlike traditional commodities markets, which will eventually involve delivery to someone in physical form, the carbon (dioxide) market is based on lack of delivery of an invisible substance to no-one. Since the market revolves around creating carbon (dioxide) credits, or finding carbon (dioxide) reduction projects whose benefits can then be sold to those with a surplus of emissions, it is entirely intangible." (Telegraph)
This blog has been tracking the 'Global Warming Scam' for over ten years now. There are a very large number of articles being published in blogs and more in the MSM who are waking up to the fact the public refuse to be conned any more and are objecting to the 'green madness' of governments and the artificially high price of energy. This blog will now be concentrating on the major stories as we move to the pragmatic view of 'not if, but when' and how the situation is managed back to reality. To quote Professor Lindzen, "a lot of people are going to look pretty silly"

New peer reviewed paper says “there appear to have been periods of ice free summers in the central Arctic Ocean” in the early Holocene, about 10-11,000 years ago
"..Now, inconveniently, we have this new paper via ScienceDirect New insights on Arctic Quaternary climate variability from palaeo-records and numerical modelling which says that their studies show that the early Holocene might very well have had ice free summers. This is interesting, because as this generally well accepted graph shows, temperature was higher then. But there’s more. ...."

Disputing The Skeptical Environmentalist
"By demonizing the gas of life, in league with Al Gore and Bill Gates, Lomborg commits several serious scientific errors. As independent scientists, with broad training in mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology and geography, we know CO2 is not a pollutant, and the notion of “carbon-free” or “zero-carbon” energy is inherently harmful and anti-scientific. ....Bjorn Lomborg, Al Gore and Bill Gates need to consider the likelihood that, driven by changes in solar activity and ocean circulation, Earth will cool significantly over coming decades. Damaging the global economy with ineffectual carbon dioxide controls, in a futile quest to “stop global warming,” looks stupid now.
Viewed later, with hindsight, it will be judged outrageously irresponsible."

Global air and sea temperatures starting to drop rapidly
"Dr. Roy Spencer has an essay below on sea surface temperatures starting to bottom out, but in addition to that, the UAH daily lower troposphere plot shows a sharp drop also.
As this graph of UAH TLT from D Kelly O’Day’s site shows, The current global anomaly is 0.044C – or very nearly zero. That’s a big drop from last month when we ended up at 0.60C. ..."
More workers sacrificed to green god
"Chris Huhne's extrarodinary mishandling of the UK's energy policy continues apace. It appears that users of virgin wood are being priced out of the market for their raw materials because of subsidies to bioenergy companies who compete for supply.
Mike McKenna, director of Kronospan's Chirk factory, said the subsidies for electricity generators which use biomass encouraged them to take "the easy option" of burning freshly felled timber. He told BBC Radio Wales: "The easy option for them is cutting down trees and burning them for electricity generation. "That's because the subsidies are worth more than twice the value of the wood.
Quite, quite mad.

Kintyre wind farm company in financial crisis
"The future of a wind turbine manufacturer which received millions of pounds from the Scottish government to safeguard jobs is in doubt. The Danish company Skykon, which took over the Vestas wind turbine factory in Kintyre last year, has announced it is suspending payments to its creditors.A total of 120 people are employed at the site just outside Campbeltown. In a statement Skykon said the company was in a very "cash-strapped situation." The announcement will come as a blow to First Minister Alex Salmond who went to Kintyre last summer to announce the deal.
The Scottish government agreed £9.2m worth of financial backing for Skykon which was intended to safeguard 100 jobs at the factory and create 300 more. However so far only £2.4m has been paid out since the money was being delivered in instalments with each batch dependent on Skykon fulfilling a number of conditions."
Climate Fools Day in the UK Parliament a Success
"email received from analytical chemist Hans Schreuder reporting the Climate Fools Day meeting in the UK Parliament was a great success. Perhaps a US version will occur in the US House of Representatives following the Nov. 2nd midterm elections.
The Climate Fools Day in London meeting was superb. Will write a proper report on the event yet, when various video clips have been posted. Attached two pics from the event. The room was nearly fully booked. Lots of good contacts and a call for a monthly meeting at Parliament and for MPs to attend. Wind energy in particular was demolished as the greatest waste of time and money. The momentum is building now.
Kind regards,
Hans Schreuder

Why are schools promoting this deceitful film?
"The film is error-riddled and alarmist, and the work of a prize hypocrite and deceiver who dodges any attempt to hold him to account. Even an otherwise sympathetic British judge says the film contains so many errors that it should not be used in classrooms without a health warning.
But in Australia....
CLIMATE change documentary ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ will be included in the national curriculum as part of a bid to educate students on environmental sustainability across all subjects. ..."
Academic ignorance?
"Are our curriculum building academics so out of touch that they aren’t aware of a British court’s finding that the Al Gore propaganda flick contained at least 11 blatant falsehoods and recommended that: In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that 1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument. 2.) If teachers present the Film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination. 3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.
Or are they so arrogant that they refuse to acknowledge an ever-rising groundswell of public opinion that rejects alarmist positions? Judge for yourselves."
Pew Poll: Belief in global warming as a serious problem continues to decline
"..Roughly a third (34%) say that global warming is occurring mostly because of human activity, such as the burning of fossil fuels, which also is little changed from last year (36%). ..."
Happy Climate Fools' Day
"Today is Climate Fools’ Day. To celebrate, here is an essay courtesy of Simon Barnett to show how your money is being squandered by the Coalition on “Climate Change”.The 2008 Climate Change Act commits Britain to cutting its CO2 emissions by 80 percent by 2050 at a cost of £18.3 billion every year for the next four decades (according to the Department for Energy and Climate Change website). This is being funded by top slicing the cash from your energy bills. The figure does not include other costs, such as the losses incurred due to the economic damage and opportunity costs of these measures. And obviously the law only seeks only to address CO2 emissions from the UK.
Biodiversity: Manufacturing a Crisis
"With the UN trying to promote diminishing biodiversity as the NEXT BIG CRISIS it is interesting to note the chaos among diversity researchers. It is hard to make definitive statements regarding loss of diversity when science can not even tell us how many different creatures there are on the planet. Nevertheless, the UN has launched the International Year of Biodiversity, warning that the ongoing loss of species around the world is affecting human well-being. Yet another UN generated “science based” crisis to keep the world's citizens in a frenzy—shades of the failed global warming crisis, which the UN is rather hoping we all will forget."

US Carbon trading – not worth a plug nickel
"I wrote a few weeks ago that The only lower price than today’s closing price on a ton of carbon is ZERO. That’s true now more than ever. ..And it’s still crashing. Last week the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) announced that they were scrapping the existing carbon trading program, and focusing on a new one that deals with directly sold carbon offsets rather than open trading. ....A bag of charcoal BBQ briquettes is worth far more than a ton of carbon dioxide right now. Stock up, you might be able to sell them to some unsuspecting dupe a briquette at a time just so long as you provide a certificate to go with each one."
S&TC to grill Russell, Davies, Acton
"The big news of tomorrow is likely to be the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee interviewing UEA bigwigs Acton and Davies, together with Sir Muir Russell. The three of them are going to have to explain some of the oddities over the inquiries into the Climategate affair. ..."

Local Government Is Not About Being Green
"Local government is supposed to be about water, sewer, garbage collection, public transit, police, and ambulance services. In our part of the world, approximately half of our property taxes are consumed by the education system – which is why we also elect someone to help ensure that those particular dollars are spent wisely.
But the people who’ve been governing Toronto in recent years (and many who’d like to do so starting tomorrow) seem less-than-focused on cost-effective, efficient public services. Rather, they think it’s the city’s job to obsess about the environment.
Never mind that Canadians already have, and already pay for, environment ministries at the provincial level (our provinces are the equivalent of US states). Never mind that we have, and already pay for, a massive Ministry of the Environment at the national level."
What Will the Climate Climb-Down Look Like?
"Here’s something that you can bring to the bank: With regard to global warming, the major purveyors of news in the industrialized world will be climbing down from their various versions of frenzied alarmism. Here’s something else that you can bring to your banker: the climb-down will be sneaky. On the other hand, when the series of editorial re-positionings is visible to casual members of the public at all, it will be beyond awkward.
How do I know? Because the process has already begun."
