Climategate
"Carbon (Dioxide) trading is now the fastest growing commodities market on earth.....And here’s the great thing about it. Unlike traditional commodities markets, which will eventually involve delivery to someone in physical form, the carbon (dioxide) market is based on lack of delivery of an invisible substance to no-one. Since the market revolves around creating carbon (dioxide) credits, or finding carbon (dioxide) reduction projects whose benefits can then be sold to those with a surplus of emissions, it is entirely intangible." This blog has been tracking the 'Global Warming Scam' for over ten years now. There are a very large number of articles being published in blogs and more in the MSM who are waking up to the fact the public refuse to be conned any more and are objecting to the 'green madness' of governments and the artificially high price of energy. This blog will now be concentrating on the major stories as we move to the pragmatic view of 'not if, but when' and how the situation is managed back to reality. To quote Professor Lindzen, "a lot of people are going to look pretty silly"

The wettest and now the COLDEST! Britons left shivering as temperatures plunge to -2C ... as we braved the chilliest summer's night for 40 YEARS
"On same day Met Office reveal it’s been the wettest summer ever, temperatures plunged to almost record summer lows overnight
Braemar is Scotland was the coldest spot as it dropped to -2.1C There has only been one August night colder, August 21 1973, when Lagganlia in the Highlands suffered -4.5C
Some areas did have a record low, Bradford for example was 2.8C last night, its lowest August temperature since 1908
It tops off a miserable summer, which has been the wettest in a century, causing flash floods only yesterday."

Trouble at the mill
"The UK's energy policy still looks as though it is being run by dyed-in-the-wool greens but elsewhere there is growing evidence that normal economic behaviour is starting to reassert itself. For example, solar panel manufacturers in China are on the verge of extinction."

Somersaults and a belly-flop: carbon tax fails on all counts
"The government is trying to water down the carbon tax, its most costly error. Following the astonishing decision to join the EU’s carbon abatement scheme, I had a piece in the AFR on Wednesday. Henry E also had an excellent piece in the Australian. Here is the text of mine."
1974 : CIA Enumerated The Devastation Of Global Cooling
"Hansen is busy lying today about how extreme weather has gotten worse due to global warming. In 1974, the CIA said the exact opposite. “The world’s snow and ice cover had increased by at least 10 to 15%” “The six west African countries .. became the first victims of climate change” Within a single year, adversity had visited nearly every nation on the globe”
Spiegel 1974: “Temperatures Over Last 20 Years Have Dropped Faster Than At Anytime In The Last 1000 Years”
"Looking back at the Spiegel archives, here’s another report warning of global cooling and that man was the cause: The desert is growing. ......Climate changed naturally throughout history. But since about 1900, it’s all man’s fault. We live in an age of technical charlatans."
IPPR Credibility Gone With the Wind
"Earlier this month Guido showed how he who pays the IPPR calls the tune, and now it seems the Labour wonk-shop have been at it once again. Today they have published a report making the case for wind power. Apparently wind is an effective way of reducing carbon emissions and can provide a secure and reliable source of energy for the future. Who would argue such a thing? Dig a little deeper and you will see that two of the three authors of the report are senior employees of GL Garrad Hassan: ......So we have the IPPR letting a wind energy company write a report on wind power, only for them to inexplicably find that wind is the way forward. Fancy that…"

Europe’s Summer Of 2003 Was Not “Unprecedented” – Climate Science Amnesia Exposed Again
"For a long time it was assumed that the heat wave of 2003 was unique for the last 1000 years, and that there had never been such a heat wave in Europe during that time. It turns out that this was an error. At the end of July, 2012, Oliver Wetter and Christian Pfister of the University of Bern in Switzerland published a new study in the Journal Climate of the Past Discussion. The study shows that temperatures during a Swiss heat-wave summer in the year 1540 was significantly hotter than the summer of 2003. The two scientists write a short summary of their work:"
New paper finds deep Arctic Ocean from 50,000 to 11,000 years ago was 1–2°C warmer than modern temperatures
"A new paper published in Nature Geoscience finds "From about 50,000 to 11,000 years ago, the central Arctic Basin from 1,000 to 2,500 meters deep was ... 1–2°C warmer than modern Arctic Intermediate Water." This finding is particularly surprising because it occurred during the last major ice age."

Michael Mann says lawsuit against National Review is on! Climate Depot responds to Mann and his lawyer's claims about the Hockey Stick & Climategate
"Climate Depot Response: Mann's research has been subjected to nearly a decade of intense scrutiny by his colleagues, climate researchers and institutions. See: 2010: Head of UK Royal Statistical Society Prof. David Hand: Michael Mann's 'Hockey stick' graph was exaggerated -- 'The 'hockey stick' that became emblematic of the threat posed by climate change exaggerated the rise in temperature because it was created using 'inappropriate' methods...would have shown less dramatic results if more reliable techniques had been used to analyze the data'

Oh No! Six Thousandths Of One Percent (0.006%) More Of The World’s Ice Melted This Summer!
"So how much more Arctic sea ice has melted (been dispersed) this year? Let’s say the Arctic sea ice retreats to 3.5 million km2 by mid September. That would mean 800,000 sq. km less than 2007. That sounds frightening. But how much ice is that? Answer: 800,000 km2 x 0.002 km thick = 1600 cubic km. Holy moly!"

The tangled tale of Lord Deben and a dodgy Severn barrage
" An extraordinary picture of the state of our public life has come to light in recent days, in accounts of the involvement of some of our most senior politicians in the vast, lucrative and expanding industry of “renewable energy”. At the centre of the picture is David Cameron, who last month nominated Lord Deben (formerly John Gummer) as the new chairman of the influential and supposedly “independent” Committee on Climate Change, set up to advise government on energy policy under the Climate Change Act. This is despite the fact that Lord Deben’s array of environmental business interests includes chairmanship of Forewind Ltd, a consortium of four energy firms planning the world’s largest, and most heavily subsidised, offshore wind farm in the North Sea."

The Maldives Emily Littella sea level moment – never mind…
"....Follow the money, find the lies. It was never about sea level, or climate refugees, or disappearing islands…it is all about wealth transfer. Whine loud enough to the U.N. that those other big meanie countries are making the sea rise, and they’ll toss money your way. Say it too much, and the investors stay away.
Liars, liars, liars all."
It's fascinating to take a detailed look at what Time mag told us about global cooling in 1974
"It's fascinating to take a detailed look at what Time mag told us about global cooling in 1974: It's been happening for three decades; it shows no signs of reversing; it's causing bizarre and unpredictable weather, including drought in Africa; it may be caused by fuel burning, it could be catastrophic for food supplies, etc"
